Genomic Science

Genomic science is the study of the genome -- the full set of genetic material (DNA and RNA) that forms each species. The genome provides the instructions—the “recipe”— for every living thing. Our ability to sequence DNA and RNA provides us with a window into this instruction book. Genomic science, still in its infancy, is transforming agriculture and medicine, and has been described as “the greatest intellectual moment in history. Bar none.” (Genome, by Matt Ridley, 1999, pp 6)
