The 5th Annual GMGI Science Forum with Stellar Lineup (Space Available!)

On October 13 scientists from across the globe will convene in downtown Gloucester for the 5th GMGI Science Forum. As GMGI’s first recurring and annual conference, the Science Forum has grown into a high caliber symposium on the new biotech nexus of marine, fishery and genomics science. This year’s invited speakers represent the world’s leading science institutions, including University of Denmark, Scripps Institute of Oceanography, New England Aquarium and Rockefeller Institute.

Presentations include:
  • “Ocean industrialization and stress responses in North Atlantic right whales,” Rosalind Rolland, New England Aquarium
  • “Roseobacter group bacteria as probiotics in marine larviculture,” Lone Gram, Technical University of Denmark
  • “From sea to pharmacy: Sequence-based approaches to marine natural product discovery,” Paul Jensen, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego

The daytime program will be followed by this year’s keynote, the legendary David Gallo. David is an oceanographer and Director of Special Projects at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute and he will speak on the “Astonishing Life in the Deep Ocean.”

The event is open to scientists, science teachers, graduate students and post docs, as well as citizen scientists who enjoy keeping up with marine science. There is no charge to attend and all meals are included. RSVP requested.
